The only thing most of us keep in refrigerators is a slice of cheese or long-forgotten egg. In case of Carrie Bradshaw, there was champagne. And that’s all when it comes to home food of the most known single woman. From now on your fridge will be ready for everything.
As you know, we, the singles, can eat instant soups or already prepared meals for months. Others will live with a baguette with Parma ham. We pop out for quick shopping with empty stomach just to kill the hunger, and later on we throw away the rest. Obviously, the situation changes when love is in the air. Suddenly, we have to unexpectedly prepare romantic breakfast or prepare a mid-night supper. From the time I watched ‘Heartburn’ by Mike Nichols, I’m never out of hot pepper, garlic, and a frozen or fresh pack of parsley. The film’s protagonist, a culinary journalist played by Meryl Streep, prepares a bowl of Spaghetti aglio e olio for her beloved (Jack Nicholson). As you can guess, he stays there.
Your must have kit
In order to make the so-called basic shopping, meaning having something at hand, thanks to which you can make simple and healthy dishes, you will need several products: good olive oil, pesto, and several types of pasta. We can add there coffee, black or green tea, and obviously some basic fruits and vegetables such as apples, tomatoes, and pepper. It is worth to have a piece of parmesan in the fridge. It is a great addition for the pasta. It can also be a great snack while having a red wine.

Let’s not forget about eggs, because it is an absolute necessity. Thanks to them you can prepare an omelette with spinach (in the fridge it is better to keep the one in leaves, not crumbled one). It is childishly simple to prepare Benedictine eggs (break the egg and put it in boiling water with a spoonful of vinegar) or scrambled eggs with chives – the first breakfast can also make a great impression.
Instead of ready muesli with some suspicious additions or sweetened cornflakes, purchase oat flakes. Cooked on water with extra apple, dried fruits, and pumpkin seeds will guarantee (thanks to the high amount of zinc), a good mood, better complexion and… great sex. We should also add a few cans of tuna or anchovy to your shopping list. It is a perfect addition to pasta or toasts. Dried tomatoes and a few slices of ham will do just as well. And bread! In today’s eco-times, it isn’t recommended to eat white bread, so buy rye bread (you can freeze it). Margarine is passé – a much better choice is butter in small cube. Plus for dessert we should choose a good dark chocolate – a package of strawberries and… a battle of Prosecco.
